American alligators are found only in Southeast US. Estimated 5 million total. Of that, 1.25 million are in Florida. No longer endangered. Live in fresh water. Males average 800 pounds, 13 feet long. Eat fish, birds, turtles, snakes, small mammals. As adults, their only predator is humans.
The Alligators #1 page has reached the limit of 250 photos. So this is #2.
Herbivore land tortoises. 6 to 16 inches long. 4 to 13 pounds. Live in underground burrows up to 50 feet long. Protection from predators and the elements. At least 350 other species live peacefully with the tortoises in the burrows.
